Perry's Victory & International Peace Memorial Hiking Stick Medallion
Great Britain had never surrendered an entire fleet-before September 10, 1813, that is. On that day, with a combination of daring, cunning and quick thinking, Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry defeated a British flotilla in the Battle of Lake Erie off the coast of Ohio, making the British retreat up the Thames River and paving the way for further American victories during the War of 1812. Perry's Victory & International Peace Memorial commemorates this victory, which was the turning point for America during the war. Not only is this medallion a powerful reminder of Perry's decisive victory on Lake Erie, like the Memorial itself; it is also a way to grace your hiking stick with a colorful reminder of your visit to this historic park.Product Details1 1/4'' W x 1 3/4'' HIncludes three nailsDesigned and finished in the USA

The Vietnam War began in the 1950s in Southeast Asia, ending on April 30, 1975 with the fall of Saigon. The war spread to neighboring countries of Laos and Cambodia. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial was dedicated in 1982. The controversial design was the work of a then 21 year old student at Yale University, Maya Lin. The simple design is a thought provoking reminder of those who died in service for our country. Many visitors to the memorial leave personal mementos, flowers, and flags to honor loved ones who are memorialized on the Wall.
